book aid international posterLibrary fines paid on 11th November (online or at the Main Library Service Desk) – up to a total for the day of £1,000 – will go to the charity Book Aid International.
Information from the charity:

It’s nearly the end of semester! To celebrate, you can choose to pay your Library fines on Friday 11th November to help support Book Aid International. Why? Because books change lives. Book Aid International sends over a million brand new books each year to schools, universities, youth clubs, orphanages and refugee camps in twelve different countries in sub-Saharan Africa. It also helps to set up community and mobile libraries. It provides training for librarians and teachers, as well as helping in the distribution of medical, agricultural and legal information to local practitioners and the wider community. In so doing, it transforms lives by offering people of all ages the chance to read, write and learn – and to lay the foundations for a stronger future. If books matter to you, please take this opportunity to help them matter to others, by paying your library fine on 11th November. Thank you!
