Stairwell signs noise red
In order to let you know that sound from the stairwell travels and disturbs fellow students and Library users on the SILENT floors, we’ve made new posters which will be going up shortly. We are asking you to please be quiet on the stairs because we’ve received complaints about this issue.
For example, here are a couple of the You Said We Did cards we’ve received:
“Please do more to ensure that people stay quiet on the stairs (maybe make them silent areas as well?) Too often people loiter and chat and talk on their phones. It can get very noisy for the people sitting near the doors in the silent areas, so they are not really silent.”

You can view all of the comments and suggestions we get in on our LibAnswers page.
We understand that people may take their phones out to the stairwell so that they do not disturb others, however, these conversations can still be heard. Please take all phone calls down to Level 2 where talking and phones are allowed.
