The Library’s 3rd annual poetry recitation competition, Poems Aloud! – which is run as part of the StAnza International Poetry Festival – took place in the Main Library on Friday 4 March.
The winner of the £100 prize was Juliana Brohmer Hansen, who performed the wonderful and slightly sad ‘Somewhat Unravelled’ by Jo Shapcott.

The judging panel consisted of three writers from this year’s StAnza. Jo Shapcott was informed later that her poem had been the winner’s choice, and made reference to it at her StAnza reading.

We were once again grateful to all the competitors for being courageous enough both to attempt to memorise and then to perform their chosen pieces. Eleanor Livingstone, Festival Director, attended the event and enjoyed it hugely.
We look forward to next year!
