New e-Resource – The World Scholar: Latin American and Caribbean Digital Archive

The World Scholar: Latin American and Caribbean Digital Archive is a recent permanent-access database purchase, made by the Library.

It is an important archive of digitised primary source documents which focus on the history, politics, economics, religion, culture, international affairs, science and technology of Latin America and the Caribbean, from the early 1800s onward.

The primary source documents are sourced from archive collections in the United States and beyond, and comprise academic journals and articles, newspapers, original manuscripts, signed letters, expedition records, reports, maps, diaries, ephemera, statistical data, audio and video, etc., from sources such as:
  • Bauza Maps and Manuscripts Collection
  • Brazil's Popular Groups, 1966-1986
  • Coleccion De Documentos Ineditos Relativos Al Descubrimiento, Conquista Y Organizacion De Las Antiguas Posesiones Espanolas De America Y Oceania. -- Madrid : M.B. de Quyros, 1864-1884
  • Conquistadors: The Struggle for Colonial Power in Latin America, 1492-1825
  • Latin American History and Culture: An Archival Record, Series 1: The Yale University Collection of Latin American Manuscripts, Parts 1-7

  • Mexican and Central American Political and Social Ephemera
  • Papers of Agustin de Iturbide, 1799-1880
The World Scholar: Latin American and Caribbean is the first in a series of regional studies products to be released by Gale.
