Knowledge Unlatched is a collaborative, crowd-funded, model pilot which aims to enable open access for scholarly books in the arts and humanities. Many libraries around the world share a Title Fee payment to publishers (the cost of publishing a book), in return for a book being made available via open access e-book platforms. Nearly 300 international libraries have now signed up. The Library signed up as an early participant.   28 new Humanities and Social Sciences books are included in the pilot and are listed in SAULCAT.
Update:
  • the 28th title - 'Oaths and Swearing in Ancient Greece', has just been added, and will be in SAULCAT very soon
  • titles have been downloaded almost 13,000 times since the start of the project in March 2014
  • readers in at least 138 countries have been accessing the titles via OAPEN and HathiTrust
