We currently have a trial of SciVal, which runs until 24 November 2014.

SciVal, from Elsevier, offers quick and easy access to the research performance of approximately 4,600 research institutions and 220 countries worldwide. It holds over 30 million publication records from 21,000 international journals, and can generate powerful data visualisations, in seconds.

It enables you to view, analyse and compare the performance and quality of a range of research entities - research areas and groups, collaboration networks, self-defined research topics, institutions and countries, etc., - and provides the evidence-based information required to establish, execute and evaluate long-term planning.

Using SciVal, you can:
  • get a high-level overview of the research performance of your Institution, other Institutions, Countries and Groups of Researchers

  • compare and benchmark your Institution to other institutions, Researchers and Groups of Researchers using a variety of metrics

  • explore the collaboration network of both your Institution and other Institutions
To access the trial:
  • access SciVal on-campus
  • then use the Register Now link to register with your e-mail address and chosen Password (University of St Andrews staff and students only)
Please note: if you have an existing Scopus or ScienceDirect Username and Password, you will already have access

The Help menu in SciVal includes links to: the online manual; a Quick User Guide, and the SciVal Metrics Guidebook
