Saturday. I and Poupard went to fetch the Capt of the Hyndsford off to Breakfast but he did not come. we called for him as we went ashore also for the Capt’s of the Tyrian and Elizabeth Yeo. 2 of the boys went to help us to pull ashore. went back to the Eliz.Yeo to dinner, took the Capt ashore again after dinner as the mail had arrived and we were full of hopes but what was our dismay when there were no Letters for us.
Hopes dashed again as no letters from home had reached Rio yet. Sounds like the Captains of the various British vessels in port were having a high old time socializing with each other.
