18th November 1859:

Saturday. Went this morning before breakfast to the Sir Allan McNab for the Capt. Went ashore about 10.0 AM. The Capt went aboard the Barque Augustus of Bristol to dinner, we came aboard to dinner, went to the Augustus and took the Capt ashore, stayed there about half an hour and came aboard to tea.

Here’s a new ship that the Captain hasn’t been to tea on before - the Augustus must be newly arrived in port. The crew of the Sir Allan McNab (named after the Canadian premier) were old friends.
