Monday 5th. Aboard the Garland of Valparaiso. The Capt, his wife and another Lady went with us for a sail around all the Islands.
Guano 10 tons.

The Captain and his ladies probably means the captain of the Garland as there’s been no mention so far of our Captain Russell having a good lady wife aboard and the Chincha islands is hardly the place for a romantic reunion. Sailors could be away for 2-3 years at a time though so perhaps it was a good idea to bring the family along with them.
