Day 241. Flying fish and salt horse: a seafaring tale
28th March 1860:
Wednesday 28th. Arrived the Australia of Liverpool after having to put back to Liverpool and discharge three times. Lost all her sails and put back to Monte Video for new ones. Making from first starting to arriving here a three year passage.
What a journey the Australia had had to get to the Chincha Islands! Three years trying to get there, but just 6 months for the Philanthropist. I hope it didn’t take them as long to get home.
