Day 246. Flying fish and salt horse: a seafaring tale
2nd April 1860:
Monday 2nd. Arrived the Vixen Man of War, the Snapdragon of Boston The Talisman and St Vincent de Paul of Valparaiso.
It seems unusual to see a Man of War, a heavily armed battleship, calling in at the guano islands - perhaps they needed provisions or were making a social call.
