Today I’ve been looking into the contents of a wooden trunk given to Special Collections by the Maitland Dougall family, and it’s proved to be a treasure trove. There is the smallest manuscript I have ever seen, a tiny Naval notebook full of spidery writing, listing crew and provisions:

There are letters between members of the King family, who married into the Maitland family, diaries, account books, receipts, and delightful drawings and engravings. And there’s more to come!
