Day 270. Flying fish and salt horse: a seafaring tale

26th April 1860:

Thursday 27th. All of us poisoned with eating cured Mackerel. Took emetics. 

Food poisoning! They were maybe eating up stores of fish from old barrels rather than the nice fresh fish Richard has described catching around the islands. That can’t be much fun on a boat.
