11th May 1860:

Friday 12th. The Carpenter making a new Spanker Boom. Sails making new Tarpaulings for the Hatches. Washed Decks. Hands variously employed. Pumps carefully attended. Going 4 ½ at 6 AM. 

2AM. Main Royal split, stowed it and M.T.G. Staysail.
