Wednesday 13th. Cold squally weather. could not take the sun. Too dull. the Capt thought he saw Cape Horn but he hardly knew whether it was or not. 8 PM. Tacked ship. Tom much worse, eats nothing scarcely, delirious all night, raving continually. Pumps carefully attended. Driving hail.

They are at or around Cape Horn again, heading through dangerous stormy seas. None of this can help the sick man Tom to feel any better. he is delirious with fever now and it’s not looking good for him.
