Thursday 2nd. The breeze still continues and the ship going about 6 ½ knots, Finished rattling the Main and Mizen Rigging, and commenced tarring down the Main, the Captn is not going to have the Mizen tarred, until we get some more water, which will be in a few days he expects as we are in Latitude by observation at noon, 2-15 S, and we expect to cross the Equator tomorrow about noon. We crossed it on a Friday on the passage out. Setting up Jib Guys and rattling down Fore, and Fore Topmast, rigging, also Washed deck 6 to 8 AM. We passed another ship outward bound, but ships soon are out of sight of one another, when going in opposite directions, they pass and are no more thought off except some of the sailors wondering how the wages are at home now.
