Sunday 5th. 7 AM we sighted a barque outward bound, she passed about a ¼ mile to Windward and the Capt Signalized thinking she was English but she proved to be Dutch, and called Wilhem Voyger. the being a fine breeze and going in opposite directions we soon left each other out of sight. by the course she was steering I think she was bound to some port in the Brazils. 12 M. Layed the yards right square. the wind coming aft, hauled Jibs, and Staysails down, hauled weather clews of Courses up, brailed Spanker in, then went below and had our duff. Latitude by observation 5″40″16″ N. 8 PM. Set lee studding sails, hauled Cross Jack and Mainsail up.
