Day 373. Flying fish and salt horse: a seafaring tale

Tuesday 7th. Still pouring with rain, we got drenched to the skin at the pumps which are particularly attended every hour. 10 AM Squared the yards in a little. 2PM observed 2 Homeward Bound vessels on our weather bow, we set Fore Topmast and lower and M.T.G. Stun Sails, but while setting the M.T.G. one the Halliards carried away, close to the yard and down the sail came on the Topsail yard. Had to bend them on afresh. 4 PM. the wind hauled ahead again took in the Stun sails and Braced sharp up. still raining in torrents until 4 AM on. - Sun obscure.
