student takes book from shelf in the Library

From Monday 14 June, University staff and students will again be able to drop in to use University Libraries for study space and to browse, borrow and return items.

You will no longer need to book a study space, and the booking system will be unavailable from 14 June.

You can still use the click and collect service. All items requested through this service will be picked up from the hold shelf, next to the Library Service Desk in the Main Library. Collect your books and borrow using the self-service machine, anytime during the Library opening hours: 9am until 9pm, Monday to Sunday.

The hold shelf, within the glass area to the left as you approach the Service Desk from the Main Library entrance, is also where you will find any books you have recalled. Books are shelved alphabetically using the first few letters of the person who has recalled the items. Once you have found the item reserved for you, borrow it using the self-issue machine also within the glass area, just beside the hold shelf. To use the self-issue machine, scan your ID card and then place the books you want to borrow on the machine.

The scan and deliver service continues to be available as before.

When you visit any of the University Libraries, always remember to wear your face covering, bring your ID card, and use the hand sanitiser before and after browsing the bookshelves.
