Library services and spaces during The Open

While this major event is held in St Andrews, there will be disruption to services and access to study space.

All library sites and services will be closed from 14th until 17th July inclusive. For study space, you can continue to access 24 hour pc classrooms in Maths, Irvine and Bute as usual, please check locations on the University webpages. Postgraduate students can continue to access Old Burgh School for study space and facilities.

The following services will also be affected: Click and Collect, scanning, Inter-Library Loan.

Click and Collect:

  • Request before 3.30pm on Tuesday 12th July to be able to collect items before The Open.
  • Any books requested between 3.30pm on Tuesday 12th and 3.30pm on Wednesday 13th will be available on Tuesday 19th July.
  • Any books requested between 3.30pm on Wednesday 13th and 3.30pm on Tuesday 19th will be available on Wednesday 20th July.

Scanning requests received between 14th and 18th July will not be processed until Tuesday 19th.

Inter-Library Loan requests received between 14th and 18th July will not be processed until Tuesday 19th. You will also not be able to return any Inter-Library Loan items during this period. Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions.

On Monday 18th July St Mary’s College Library and the King James Library will be open for study space only (the Service Desks will be closed) from 8am until 8.30pm. The Thomson Reading Room in Martyrs Kirk will be open from 8am until 9pm.

Please note that Library staff, including Librarians and Service Desk staff, will be unavailable to answer questions from Thursday 14th until Monday 18th July inclusive.
