Main Library closure 15 and 16 October

An electrical shutdown, required for work to continue on the new heating and cooling system in the Main Library, will take place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October. This will affect the Main Library (as well as the Arts Building and St Salvator’s Quad) and so the building will be closed on that weekend (Raisin Weekend).

The Library Service Desk will be available in St Mary’s College Library 11am until 5pm Saturday and Sunday. Alternative study space is available in a variety of places, including the King James Library and Butts Wynd.

Access to collections held in the Main Library will not be possible for these two days. If you need an item held in the Main Library during this time, please contact [email protected] as we may be able to suggest alternative access. Access to collections held in the King James Library and Martyrs Kirk will be unaffected.

The Main Library will reopen as normal at 8am on Monday 17 October.

We also want to make you aware that there will be reduced access to the Main Library during the Christmas vacation and inter-semester break. From 20 December until 15 January, works will take place to transform the entrance area of the Library on level 2, as well as further electrical shutdowns to required for the new heating and cooling system. There will be specific days and times where access to the collections will be possible, and further details will be confirmed nearer the time.

We will open as normal for the start of teaching in Semester 2 on Monday 16 January.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these interruptions to service and appreciate your patience as the redevelopment works progress and we make these key improvements to the building.

If you have any questions about the works, please email [email protected], and if you have any other questions please email [email protected].
